Rapid iron infusion with iron polymaltose: Further improvements may be possible

We read with interest the article by Garg et al.1 reassuring us that rapid infusion of iron polymaltose is well tolerated. This observation is timely in this climate of change when there is considerable onus on the correction of anaemia through intravenous iron rather than through transfusion.Their cohort of 100 patients included 26 with inflammatory bowel disease, and as expected, these patients displayed increased transfusion reactions.
