BASF Declares PolvTHF Force Majeure

Geismar— BASF has declared force majeure in North America on polytetrahydrofuran (PolyTHF) following an event that impacted production in its tetrahydrofuran (THF) manufacturing unit in Geismar, La. The event forced the shutdown of the THF and PolyTHF units. While production of THF and PolyTHF has resumed, the units were suspended for several weeks. Force majeure is expected to last through the second quarter of 2017, BASF noted.
