PCR builds strength in Asia with US yard acquisitions

Mitsui Co's decision to add another two members to its family of US west coast scrap yards is just more evidence of the Japanese trader's strategy of building its strength in Asia's ferrous raw materials market. The deal concluded through wholly owned US scrap subsidiary Pacific Coast Recycling to purchase the Fontana and Etiwanda yards from Sims Group lifts PCR's scrap handling volume by about 200,000 tpy to take this to about 1m tpy.
