Atrial myxoma presenting as diplopia in a 24-year-old man

A 24-year-old man who smoked and drank alcohol heavily presented to our emergency department complaining of acute onset diplopia followed, 2 hours later, by a mild global headache. While in the emergency department, the patient complained of nausea and vomited on one occasion. His medical history was notable, only, for a diagnosis of viral pericarditis 3 years prior. A coronary angiogram and left ventriculogram at that time were deemed normal. A neurology consultation was sought.
