摘要

The oxidation behavior of iron aluminides was investigated in various environments at 900 to 1200 deg C. The effect of water vapor on total specimen mass gain was minimal. At 1000 and 1100 deg C, the mass gain of Fe-28 at. percent Al-5Cr without Zr was a factor of 2 or more higher in air than in oxygen or Ar-20 percent O_2. Nitride formation beneath the external A1_2O_3 layer was observed in air.
