In this project, O-3 process was used for degradation and mineralization of 50 mg L-1 of 2-nitrophenol (2NP) in a semi batch reactor under variable dosage of ozone and pH. Ozonation was performed at the pH of 3, 5, 7, and 9. After 20 min of treatment, the amount of degradation was 99.8 at pH 9 compared to 90, 82.7, and 70.5 at pH 7, 5, and 3, respectively. Results revealed that the degradation efficiency of the pollutant was higher at alkaline pH than acidic ones, because of the formation of hydroxyl radicals. At pH 9, the removal of total organic carbon (TOC) and COD was reached to 31 and 72.5 , respectively, after 60 min of reaction. The kinetic of degradation was pseudo-first-order and the rate constants and half-life of degradation reaction were determined and removal of 2NP was very higher and faster than the removal of COD.
