The problem of water, which covers water shortages, disasters, water conservation and pollution, is a big issue in China. The Key Laboratory of Water Cycle and Related Land Surface Processes, an affiliate of the CAS Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources, focuses on water cycle and related surface processes in the context of the global climate change, its regional response, and human socio-economic activities. It carries out fundamental research on water issues and related surface processes to provide scientific understanding for solving water problems in China. Recently, it takes North China as one of the key regions to explore the changing laws governing water cycle and related surface processes.
