Fluid motions are driven by a random isotropic body force in a rotating system. The fluid is incompressible and infinite in extent. The dynamo action of the resulting fluid motions is investigated by Fourier decomposition. The global effects of the turbulent motions are expressed in terms of gradients of the local mean magnetic field,Bo. Two aspects of the problem are novel. The spectral approach is used to solve for the turbulent quantities while gradients ofBoare retained, and secondly a non‐zero mean emf. is obtained from an entirely isotropic forcin
