摘要

This review covers the synthesis and polymerization of benzo1,2-b: 4,5-b′dithiophene (BDT) to generate semiconducting polymers used in organic field-effect transistors (OFET) and organic solar cells applications. The synthesis of fused-ring benzo1,2- b:4,5-b′dithiophene (BDT) small molecules and semiconducting polymers is described. The BDT building block allows the incorporation of substituents on the central benzene core while maintaining planarity of the two thiophene units. Various donor-acceptor polymers containing benzodithiophene showed good performance in organic solar cells.
