An Experience From China of Perioperative Care in 1510 Liver Transplant Recipients

Orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) is the only effective way to save lives of end stage liver disease (ESLD) patients. In China, liver transplantation is made more challenging because there is no agency such as UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing in the United States) for the delegation of available organs. However, some voluntary regional networks for organ disposition have been established in eastern and southern China. And national regulations involving liver transplantation should be released in 2006. A law concerning brain death is expected in 2007.
