The detection of a clinically unsuspected pyometrium with ln-111 oxine leukocyte scintigraphy demonstrates the exquisite sensitivity of this modality for small acute inflammatory foci. Leukocyte scanning may be of value in cases of acute pelvic inflammatory disease which are clinically unsuspected or which present in an unusual fashion.
