Hydro: “the future is energy-efficient and will need more aluminium”

Hydro has recently released its AnnualReport 2013. While production figuresmainly decreased in 2013, underlyingearnings before interest and tax (Ebit)made a leap forward to NOK2.7 billion,which is more than twice the result in2012. The main reasons for this improvementare lower operating costs forHydro’s smelters, improved results forQatalum and higher product premiums.Positive developments were partly offsetby lower realised alumina and aluminiumprices together with production disruptionsrelating to external power outagesat Alunorte. Revenues rose slightly toNOK64.9 billion (+1.1%).
