In this second column on the technology of drinks production, we go on a tough, yet crystal-clear, vodkaphile assignment. SAN FRANCISCO has many pleasures. But for the bibulous engineer, there is an absolute must-see: St George Spirits and the Hangar One Distillery. Amidst a spectacular view of San Francisco across the Bay, one is confronted with a drab converted aviation hangar from the old Alameda Naval Air Station.
