Integrating a dielectric phase shifter simplifies the feedlines of an offset beam array antenna. The dielectric phase shifter however is unable to select an arbitrary dielectric form due to the reflection at the dielectric edge. This problem makes it difficult to obtain an arbitrary beam direction using the dielectric phase shifter. This paper proposes a new simple array antenna configuration that ha an isosceles-triangle shaped dielectric plate phase shifter on the feedlines. This shape allows the beam direction to be shifted because the lines are given the appropriate phase shift. Furthermore to suppress the reflection at the dielectric phase shifter, we propose to taper the edge of dielectric plate. This paper presents the design method of the isosceles-triangle shape and the taper form to obtain the desired beam direction and low return loss. The offset beam angle is evaluated based on the result of measuring this antenna, which is designed using this method.
