Ventilator Management ：Part VI. Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia

The purpose of this continuing series is to provide a "basic course" in critical care management, in English. Previous topics have included Fluid and Electrolyte Management and Nutrition Support. Patients in the Intensive Care Unit require different management than other inpatients. There are three forms of therapy that are almost unique to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Ventilatory Support, Vasoactive Drugs and Invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring. In most hospitals, these three modalities are only used in the ICU. It is therefore of great importance that trainees in critical care receive extensive education in these three areas.
