Observation of clusters on a metal surface

摘要

Size-selected Si and C clusters were deposited softly on a clean Au(001)-(5*20) surface and imaged using a UHV scanning tunneling microscope. The cluster images were found to depend on the sample bias voltage, and the clusters were found to have band gaps for both C60and Si10from tunneling spectroscopy.
