Global Spencerism comprises twelve essays, an introductory essay by Bernard Lightman, an afterword by Gowan Dawson and Greg Radick, and a useful bibliography. There is no essay on how Britons read Herbert Spencer (1820-1903), although Lightman notes continued efforts to overturn the persistent view of Spencer as merely a social Darwinist.
