摘要

Aluminum-silicon eutectic alloys in concentrations of up to 14 wt-% were added to pitch-bonded MgO-C refractories. The apparent porosity, cold crushing strength, and hot modulus of rupture were optimized at 1400℃ for 6 wt-% of alloy. The addition of an Al-Si alloy also remarkably decreased total permeability. X-ray diffraction and microstructural analysis revealed the formation of MgAI2O4 and AIN phases in MgO-C refractories. These phases may be closely related to the improvement of refractory properties at temperatures above 800℃.
