AbstractA tetrafunctional dibasic acid, methylene‐di‐β‐oxynaphthoic acid (MDNA), has been used for preparation of unsaturated polyester resins. The films obtained from these products have excellent chemical and physical properties comparable to epoxy resins and to a large extent balance some of their shortcomings such as darker color, higher viscosities, and higher cooking temperatures. The possible applications of these resins are coatings where acid, corrosion, and thermal resistance are of primary impo
