Other Voices Opioid Treatment Agreements Repurposed-But Who Monitors the Monitors?

We are in the midst of two major public health challenges. One is the disease of chronic pain, which the 2011 Institute of Medicine report so named, documenting that it affects one hundred million Americans. There is an urgent need for research to determine more effective treatment modalities and to put in place financially sustainable comprehensive pain management practices that address the physical, emotional, and social dysfunction associated with the disease of chronic pain.
