Principles of Active Network Synthesis

The general class of network functions which can be synthesized by passive elements is very much limited by the fact that we have only three basic components available, +R, +L and +C. Once active elements such as the vacuum tube, the transistor and the tunnel diode are allowed as components in the network, a much wider class of functions can be synthesized.
