Synthesis of pseudophenalenone3are described starting from 2-acetyl-1.6-methano-10-annulene (1) via2and from the dihydro-pseudophenalenone4besides the chloro-derivative5. Reaction of acetylhexachloroantimonate6with3at low temperatures yields the acetyloxy-pseudophenalenium-hexachloro-antimonate7which reacts with sodium-malodinitrile and triethylamine to give a mixture of isomers14/15, with dimethylsulfate and sodiumhydroxide to the mixture of isomers16/17.
