At My Appointment as Director-General

摘要

I was appointed Director-General of the NHK Science Technical Research Laboratories on June 5th. In our 76 year history, STRL has created a wide range of new technologies, including satellite broadcasting, Hi-Vision (HDTV), digital broadcasting, and plasma display panels. These achievements have greatly contributed to the field of broadcasting. I believe that every one of them originated from the passion and foresight of researchers, who envisioned how broadcasting should look 10 or 20 years in the future and worked to realize their vision.
