The effect of two different microsilica grades on creep of tabular alumina based ultra-low cement self-flowing castables has been studied at different stress and temperatures. The samples tented for creep at 1400 deg C have shown less difference in deformation that the samples tested at 1300 deg C due to structural strengthening by mullite formation. The activation energy obtained by the differential temperature method has shown a decreasing trend with increasing temperature. The drastic reduction in activation energy is an indication of liquid phase formation in the interaggregate composition which controls creep in the castables chosen.
