摘要

The results of investigations of certain physico-chemical properties of aluminoborosilicate glasses intended for use as vitrified binders in materials for superhard tools are discussed in this study. Scores of glasses were melted, out of which 3 per system, Li_2O-PbO-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2 and Na_2O-BaO-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2 respectively, were subjected to detailed investigations such as DTA, infrared spectroscopy in the basic range, density, microhardness, and bending strength. The linear coefficient of thermal expansion during heating and cooling was determined. Investigations of the wettability of graphite, fused corundum, borazon and diamond substrates were also carried out. All the examined glasses satisfied the criterion of suitability as binders.
