A digital method to recover the phase for in-plane or shearing addition fringe patterns in Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry, ESPI, is reported. A single in-plane addition fringe pattern is acquired and processed using non-linear digital image techniques. The results are high contrasted fringes that are demodulated with a known spatial fringe analysis technique. This phase recovery method would enable us to get the in-plane component of faster events and transient phenomena.
