FR COMES TO SLS

3D Systems Inc. (Rock Hill, SC; www.3dsystems.com) has unveiled a UL 94 V-0 compliant flame-retardant plastic for selective laser sintering (SLS) systems. DuraForm FR 100 is slated for prototypes or low-volume rapid manufacturing of consumer product or aerospace applications.The material is halogen-and antimony-free, FAR 25.853 (non-drip) compliant, has low smoke density and toxicity, exhibits toughness combined with impact resistance, and is reportedly easy to process. Furthermore, it does not emit corrosive gases, and it meets aerospace smoke density and toxicity requirements.
