In the nearly 6 years that this column has been running we've printed some fine responses to inquiries. I like to think that in a few cases we have advanced the state of the art by giving wide exposure to some relatively obscure techniques andfinishing facts. We hereby acknowledge all of those contributions with sincere thanks.From so many great letters it may be presumptuous to try to pick a single best.
