Brazil expects ethanol import quota and tariff

Brazil is expected to impose a quota of 600 million liters/year for ethanol imports free of duties, charging a 20 tariff for volumes that exceed that limit, industry association Unica said Monday. The import tax was suspended in October 2011 because Brazil was undergoing an ethanol shortage due to crop problems. The tariff is currently suspended until 2019.
