Chemical Management of Neck and Finger Blast of Finger Millet (Eleusine coracana L. Geartn.) caused by Pyricularia grisea (CKE) Sacc

Fungicidal application is one of the direct methods to manage the blast disease caused by Pyricularia grisea in the,finger millet. Least neck blast of 2.2K, 2.41, 3.66 and 4.50 was recorded in the plots treated with single spray of beam (0.05), bavistin (0.1), hinosan (0.1) and kitazin (0.1) respectively. Complete, absence of neck blast incidence was recorded in the plots treated with two sprays of beam (0.05) at the time of boot leaf and second spray was given 15 days after the first spray. Whereas least reduction of neck blast (19.00) and (15.22) was found in the plots received single and double spray of mancozeb (0.2) respectively, when compared to control (40.44). Finger blast severity of 7.70, 9.20, 8.70 and 8.20 was found in single spray as compared to 2.50, 3.80, 3.70 and 3.90 in plots received double spray of beam (0.05), hinosan (0.1) bavistin (0.1) and kitazin (0.1). Mancozeb was least effective for both neck and finger blast. Complete absence of black seeds in an ear head was noticed in the plots which received single and double spray of beam (0.05) and hinosan (0.1). Significant increment in yield (1.272 kg per plot) was recorded in the plots which received double spray of beam (0.05) compared to other treatment.
