Status of the Indian textile engineering industry

The textile engineering industry of India has been in existence over the last five decades. In the beginning, the annual capacity of the industry was only Rs. 100 million. An investment of Rs. 15,000 million has been made subsequently by the industry, and today, with 600 units, the industry has reached a total production capacity of Rs. 36,000 million. It has a large complement of well-trained technical personnel. The data on capacity, production, export and import are given in the Tables 1 and 2.
