A review of South African research on volcanic rocks, related intrusive rocks, related intrusive rocks, and mantle-derived materials: 1995-1998

South African scientists are rather seldom concerned with active volcanism, but do work in many other areas that fall within the ambit of the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI). This review describes recent work carried out in South African universities, at the Council for Geoscience, at the Geological Survey of Namibia, and at several mining companies.
