摘要

A high-voltage pulse modulator designed by the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics for powering high-power vacuum microwave electronics is described. The modulator is intended for a voltage of 70 kV, current of 25 D, pulse duration of up to 5 ms, and top stability of about 1%. The source is based on the partial discharge circuit and consists of serially connected identical 5.4-kV capacitor bank sections with switches on IGBT transistors and power supply from storage batteries. To ensure the required voltage stability, the output voltage stabilization system is built into the modulator. The pulse repetition rate is 0.01 s(-1). The principle of operation of the modulator is stated, and the circuit diagrams of the capacitor sections are presented. At present, two sources of this type have passed the tests and operate as a part of the microwave plasma heating system with a power of 0.8 MW.
