In its TV business, Toshiba Corp. employs a horizontal division of work model, wherein the company purchases LCD panels from an external company, and sells semiconductors related to LCD panels in its forte area. Because of this strategy, the company managed to profit in the latter half of FY2007 and in the first half of FY2008.
