摘要

As for the process of excretion of lipids synthesized in hepatocytes, some investigators are of the opinion that lipoprotein granules are synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum and/or in the Golgi apparatus and are then excreted out of hepatic cells. In our study using Japanese quails an entirely new possible process of lipid excretion was observed: that is, lipids formed in hepatocytes of Japanese quails were excreted into the cystically dilated intercellular spaces which are a characteristic structure in the quail. In these spaces lipids were emulsified into lipoprotein granules, and they were transported to the space of Disse through a narrow passage, which runs between the intercellular space and the space of Disse. Since this cystically dilated intercellular space has not been refered to previously, the authors have named it ICS (intercellular cystic space).
