Prescribing in the CSA

Many candidates are familiar with the electronic form of the British National Formulary (BNF) but not so familiar with the paper form. The BNF is an excellent source of information and it is useful to be familiar with the different sections so that you can find them quickly in exam conditions. Know where you can find the section on drug interactions, drugs commonly used in chronic disease and drugs used in palliative care. Some candidates use coloured sticky labels to allow them to find the relevant section quickly and this is allowed, although I'd advise restricting this to a few 'essential' sections rather than your attempting to label the whole of the BNF. You can write the BNF chapter headings on these labels but you must not make any other written annotations.
