Several new hexacoordinated ruthenium(III) complexes of the type RuX2(LL) (EPh3)2 (where X = Cl or Br; E = P or As and LL = S-benzyldithiocarbazate or S-methyldithiocarbazate) have been synthesised. The Schiff bases deprotonate and behave as uninegative bidentate nitrogen sulphur (NS#x2212;) chelating ligands. All the new complexes have been characterised on the basis of their analytical, IR, EPR and electronic spectroscopic data.
