Negative-ion detection in air cylindrical counter with gas amplification

A method for measuring the negative-ion concentration in atmosphere has been implemented. The method is based on using an air cylindrical counter with gas amplification. It is shown that a counter with two electrically separated wires permits simultaneous detection of negative ions with differing mobility. The estimated detection efficiency for a separate ion is of the order of 10{sup}(-4).
