The problem of aquaplaning is presented synthetically on rutted,two-lane coun- try roads with ground shoulder. Till present, in manycountries the admissible thickness of water film on even surfaces wassought and aquaplaning velocity was determined depending on tyre airpressure only. The Author of this paper analysed the real andtheoretical depths of water collected in both ruts during rain.Detailed studies carried out on wide range of sites, on stretches ofroads, rutted in various degree, allowed to develop a nomographdetermining the maximum possible water depth during rains of variousintensities.
