The industry covered in this article is concerned with the copying of documents. It may be divided in two possible ways. One division is between copies made simultaneously with the original; the other is where copies are made from the original or a prepared master by an independent process. This may have some resemblances both to photography and to printing. A classification based on the method of copying follows.
