Oak decline in the Soviet Union ‐ Scale and hypotheses

AbstractOn the basis of extensive literature the decline in oak woods over the last several decades in the Soviet Union is discussed. The decline has affected a major part of the range of oak in European USSR. A detailed review is given of the suggested hypotheses explaining the decline.
