Soft contact lens water content and five common post‐fitting complications. Are there relationships?

A retrospective analysis was made of soft lens wearers fitted in clinical practice. First fit patients wearing 38 per cent 0.06 poly‐HEMA, 50–55 per cent, and 67 per cent water content materials were assessed for the incidence of five common soft contact lens post‐fit complications over the first two years of wear. Low water content lenses were more commonly associated with superior keratitis; whereas medium and high water content lenses were associated with infiltrative keratitis.
