European Parliament Members Call For Expedited Timetable In Solar Case

A number of members of the European Parliament, including the chairman of its International Trade Committee (TNTA), last week called on the European Commission to conclude at least the preliminary stages of its antidumping and anti-subsidy investigations into Chinese solar panel imports sooner than required by law. In an hour-long debate during a Nov. 22 plenary session, eight members of the parliament representing all major political parties - most of whom were also INTA members - urged the commission to act before its summer 2013 deadlines to make a preliminary determination in the antidumping and anti-subsidy cases. Waiting until then could threaten the existence of the European solar panel industry, some warned.
