New GOP Platform Strikes Aggressive Tone On Chinese Trade Practices

The Republican Party last week adopted its formal policy platform for the next four years, pledging to take a tougher stance against China on a wide range of trade issues. The platform reflects many of the ideas that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has espoused on the campaign trail. The 2012 platform accuses the Obama administration of "virtual surrender" when dealing with Beijing on issues like theft of U.S. intellectual property, currency manipulation, exclusion of U.S. companies from the Chinese procurement market, Chinese subsidies, and Chinese regulations and standards designed to keep out foreign competition.
