摘要

Isolated spinach chloroplasts were ground with alumina in a mortar with the addition of 0.2MKC1 solution. This treatment resulted in a loss of fifty to ninety per cent of the original photochemical activity.A petroleum benzin extract was prepared from the alumina residue. After evaporating the solvent from the extract, the residue was dissolved in methanol. The methanol was evaporated and the residue was suspended in distilled water and centrifuged. The colorless supernatant solution exhibited a reactivation effect when added to the alumina-treated chloroplasts.It was inferred from the difference spectrum obtained between its oxidized and reduced forms that the active substance in question is functioning as intermediary hydrogen carrier in the HILL reaction.
