San Francisco is closer to making a futuristic sustainable community on a boarded-up Naval base a reality. The city's Board of Supervisors recently approved the developer's master plan to create an environmentally sustainable community of 6,000 low- and high-density residential units, shops, hotels and entertainment facilities where walking will be the major form of transportation.
