摘要

Superior temporal sulcus (STS) is one of cortices for categorization. In monkey brain, upper bank of STS is auditory cortex and lower bank is for vision. In this study, structure of STS was investigated by immunohjstochemistry of calcium binding protein on sections of rhesus brain. In STS, both banks showed similar tendency, that is deep part showed features of higher order association cortex than superficial part. Cortex of STS fundus was more compact than both banks. Distribution of fast neurons and slow neurons are almost parallel in upper and lower banks. And this may suggest the possible synchronization between vision and audition in STS. Reciprocal connection between STS, sensory, and memory cortices may explain the basic network for categorization.
