Sequenom lowers outlook on weak US

Sequenom Inc (San Diego, CA), which achieved a 44% increase in revenues over the course of 2007, found sales increasing by only 7% in the first quarter of calendar 2008, to 10.6 million, as disappointing demand from North American customers offset satisfactory sales to Europe and the rest of the world. The growth came from sales of MassARRAY~R DNA analysis systems to countries outside the US, sales of associated consumables, and growth in the company's Contract Research Services group, which also benefited the company's bottom line.
