Processing scenario in South India

There was a time in the 50s/60s when the textile industry of India was at its glorious peak in Bombay and Ahmedabad. The number of companies engaged in textile manufacturing was over 200, Today the scene comprises hardly twenty units, may be, in working to that level. When India gained independence, the textile industry was one of the organised industries which we inherited. All other industries in India from the 50s have grown from the textile industry.
