20 years after the Study Group on ICT in Public Administration was founded, studies on "Informatisation in Public Administration" still lead a life of their own, disconnected from the mainstream of Public Administration and Public Policy Research. Why did we not succeed to convey to this mainstream our insights on the role of ICT in administrative work? Were our propositions too much tainted by technological reasoning? Was our understanding of the various strands of ICT realistic? Was it far-sighted enough.
